FINALLY! Â Here is Lyra’s IEP for next year. Â It’s definitely not perfect, but it’s okay…for now. Â We’ll see how things go once school starts. Â I’ve been feeling like a total slacker as a parent lately. Â I still haven’t scheduled Lyra’s Low Vision evaluation and the first day of school is only a month away. Â Until this is completed, Lyra doesn’t have any goals or services related to assistive technology/low vision devices, written into her IEP.
The “accommodationsÂ for physical education” are crap! Â I don’t know how that slipped by me. Â Some of her goals are too broad, especially the first one.
Then there is the subject of Orientation and Mobility. Â As ashamed as I am to admit this, orientation and mobility is an area of Lyra’s IEP that I have neglected for the past couple of years. Â We were spending o much time and energy advocating/fighting for other services that it be came an issue of, do we really want to dive into another issue that will likely involve disagreements. Â This is an area that we absolutely have to address.
