{"id":143,"date":"2008-06-07T00:16:49","date_gmt":"2008-06-07T05:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/?p=237"},"modified":"2008-06-07T00:16:49","modified_gmt":"2008-06-07T05:16:49","slug":"homemade-flashcard-activity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/?p=143","title":{"rendered":"Homemade Flashcard Activity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was an idea I got from Lyra&#8217;s TVI.\u00a0 I took pictures of a variety of toys and objects that Lyra was familiar with or played with regularly.\u00a0 To make them more durable, I taped them to poster board a cut them out.\u00a0 Then I put them into the plastic sleeves of some old photo albums I had, cut them out and then taped the end.\u00a0 They were those free\u00a0photo albums they\u00a0used to give\u00a0me\u00a0when\u00a0I&#8217;d have film developed at\u00a0Wal-mart.\u00a0\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, Lyra is getting a lot of learning out of this homemade activity.\u00a0 She practices picture to object matching, like &#8220;Here is the ball, find mommy the picture of the ball,&#8221; and vice versa.\u00a0 She practices picture to picture matching with a few of them at\u00a0a time.\u00a0 If I put them all out at once, it&#8217;s too confusing for her.\u00a0\u00a0We also use the pictures\u00a0for her to practice saying the words.\u00a0\u00a0I&#8217;ll hold up a picture and say, &#8220;What&#8217;s this?&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pictures below include\u00a08 of the flashcards I made.\u00a0 I have a total of\u00a013, but when I took these pics, \u00a0I either couldn&#8217;t find one of the picture cards\u00a0or couldn&#8217;t find the object for the others.\u00a0\u00a0 She also has cards I made up with pictures of everyone in our family to help her learn to identify everyone and say their names&#8230;or her version of their name. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/matching-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-239\" title=\"matching-11\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/matching-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"496\" height=\"369\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/matching2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-240\" title=\"matching2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.parentofachildwithalbinism.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/matching2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"407\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was an idea I got from Lyra&#8217;s TVI.\u00a0 I took pictures of a variety of toys and objects that Lyra was familiar with or played with regularly.\u00a0 To make them more durable, I taped them to poster board a cut them out.\u00a0 Then I put them into the plastic sleeves of some old photo &hellip;
